First Baptist Powell seeks to follow Christ as He leads into areas of His world where we can carry the gospel for the purpose of making disciples, planting churches and strengthening existing churches.
sub-saharan african peoples
Since 2007, First Baptist Powell has been actively carrying the gospel to an Unreached People Group in West Africa and in 2014, we adopted a second Unreached People Group.
southeast asian peoples
In 2010, First Baptist Powell adopted a large Unreached People Group located on a prominent island in Southeast Asia. Since that time, we have partnered with workers from the United States to impact this Unreached People Group with the gospel.
southern cross project
First Baptist Powell has worked with the International Mission Board’s Southern Cross Project since the early 2000s. During this time, team members have distributed materials in Thailand, Macau and Taiwan. Our teams have placed the written Word, plus the Jesus film, in the hands of thousands of Chinese tourists (101,000 and counting)!
Since the early 2000s, FBCPowell has partnered with Pastor Gideon Makuthi, of Salama Baptist Church, Kenya. FBCPowell has sent multiple teams and hundreds of volunteers to work with Pastor Gideon. We have been blessed to partner with Salama Baptist Church in planting over a dozen churches and the founding of Salama Baptist Orphanage and Salama Baptist Academy.
Eli & Katie (Folden) Guiltner serve as missionaries with BMFP on the field in Japan, which is the least-Christian nation in the 10/40 window (of open countries). The area they work in has a large and growing elderly population, a high suicide rate, and very few missionaries. Pray for Eli & Katie (recently married) as they serve together to take the Gospel to “forgotten peoples.”
international mission board
IMB exists to with churches to empower limitless missionary teams who are making disciples and multiplying churches among unreached peoples and places for the glory of God.
Toffer and Becky King are serving in the Asia-Pacific region through Radio Planting. In many parts of the region radio plays a vital communications role in the community. They assist local partner ministries in getting radio stations up and going in the areas they live and work. Programming on these stations vary from teaching about basic health and hygiene to community news to Christian teaching, prayer and outreach… all with the goal of reflecting the light of Christ to those around them. They assist these local partners in the initial setup and launch of a radio station, provide basic operation training, and follow-up support and troubleshooting as needed.
In 2004 First Baptist Powell adopted a large unreached with in South Asia, in 2017 we partnered with international and national partners to bring strategic training to the believers and churches of our city in order to lead to evangelism, disciple making and church planting.
