Local missions

In our quest to equip First Baptist Powell members and send them out into the world, we celebrate the fact that God has placed us in this church family to make a difference. He wants to use each of us in our very own communities. What better places to share His love than where we work, live and play! Join us as we share the gospel, show the gospel and extend His Kingdom in our community.

First Baptist Powell members are afforded numerous opportunities to become involved in taking the gospel outside the four walls of the church. Local Missions involvement may be short-term (mission events) or long-term (permanent ministries). They may include, but not be limited to, the following:

Mobile home park ministry

First Baptist Powell holds weekly worship services, evangelistic Bible studies and conducts children’s ministries in local mobile home parks and government-subsidized housing developments in the Powell/Knoxville area.

international outreach ministry

The International Ministry of First Baptist Powell exists to identify Internationals living in Knoxville, and offer love, friendship, support, and spiritual affection in a culturally appropriate way.  The International Outreach Ministry offers services to our international friends ranging from providing transportation to and from various appointments, helping with ESL classes, and monthly gatherings designed to help internationals develop friendships with FBCPowell members.
