North American Missions

Two hundred fifty-nine million people in the United States and Canada do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. First Baptist Powell is committed to push back lostness in North America by planting and strengthening churches.  We are also committed to partnering with others who share our passion to make disciples.

children’s bible ministries

The purpose of CBM is teaching the Bible, evangelizing the unreached, discipling believers of all ages, encouraging and equipping them for active service for Jesus Christ in their community, local church and on to the world.

Disaster relief

First Baptist Powell’s Disaster Relief team specializes in flood recovery and chainsaw work. We serve locally (flooding in Fountain City to storm damaged trees across Knox County) and throughout the continental United States, certification and training are required. Individuals interested in becoming certified and serving should visit the Tennessee Baptist Relief website and contact the Missions Department at First Baptist Powell.

Send cleveland

Take a look around downtown Cleveland and you’ll see lots of churches—large churches, beautiful churches, historic churches.

And, for the most part, empty churches. More than 47 percent of the people in metro Cleveland aren’t affiliated with a religious body—Christian or otherwise. Only 8.5 percent of metro Cleveland residents are evangelicals. Despite a Southern Baptist presence in the city for five decades, only eight SBC churches call the city home.

Send north america

The Send Network exists to push back lostness in North America. That purpose is accomplished through church planting in areas of greatest need. The Send Network recognizes that church planting is one of the most challenging, and yet rewarding, callings on a person’s life. With that reality in mind, the Send Network enhances the church planting experience through collaboration and unmatched support with assessments, training, coaching, resources and care.

tennessee baptist mission board

The Tennessee Baptist Mission Board oversees the daily operation of the missions and ministry activities of the network of churches that make up the Tennessee Baptist Convention. More than 3,000 churches are a part of that network, serving together through Cooperative Program giving, the Golden Offering for Tennessee Missions and the ministries of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board to reach Tennessee, reach the nations and change the world for the glory of Jesus Christ.
