Church offices will be closed through at least April 14, 2020. All in-person gatherings at First Baptist Powell have been cancelled through April 26, 2020. However, while we will not be meeting to worship together in the church building, we will still have a small team present to lead 10:30 AM Sunday morning services and 6:30 PM Wednesday evening services, which will be available to live-stream at fbcpowell.org/watch/live.
During these uncertain days, now is a great time to continue worshipping and honoring the Lord through online giving. Your generosity will help us as we continue to serve our community during a troubling time. On our website are two videos that will instruct you on how to give using Realm eGiving. Anyone can give to FBP by going to fbcpowell.org/give.
Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM online at fbcpowell.org/watch/live for our Main Worship Service at First Baptist Powell. Pastor Tim McGhee will be preaching a new series called, “Making the Gospel Visible.”
Membership Matters is a class offered for anyone who wants to join or is prayerfully considering becoming a member at FBP. Attending the class does not mean you’re committing to join the church. This month’s class has been cancelled due to COVID-19. New date TBA.
We are a gospel-centered community who loves God and others by:

As an employee of a ministry like Street Hope TN, I often receive comments from others, such as, “it takes a really special person to do what you do.” But, I have to confess to you all that I am by no means a special person. In fact, I am wicked in my own flesh (Jer...
The nightly news. It’s depressing, appalling, and scary for Christians to watch. The world is going downhill, and we must act to stop it! Yet, we often times get into our routine and try to fit in with the world instead of fight. We strive to be popular instead of...
“Why does God allow the righteous to suffer?” I have asked myself this question many times, especially recently when I went through a tough season. The question baffles and vexes many pastors, teachers, and Christians, but many don’t know the answer. However, the book...
One of the results of living in a post-modern age is that the concept of truth has become, to say the least, fuzzy. In fact, the proposition that there exists anything approaching absolute truth is questioned if not completely dismissed. This unwillingness to accept...
Sometimes it’s painfully obvious I’ll never be one of the cool kids. I’ll never have the right clothes or be in the right crowd. We all pursue “fitting in” and “being accepted” but end up short. But that’s okay. We’ll never fit in. Ever. As believers, this world is...
That is part of my prayer for my oldest daughter almost daily. But do I really mean it? Recently I came face-to-face with this question in a way I had not envisioned (isn’t that always the way it works?). She had auditioned and earned one of the four solos in her...
