Senior Adult Fellowship
The Senior Adult Fellowship is held the third Tuesday of every month in the Family Life Center Café. The meetings include a time of devotion, special programs, lunch and fellowship. A few times each year, the group travels off-site for lunch and activities.
JOY choir
Everyone 50+ is encouraged to join the First Baptist Powell JOY (Just Older Youth) Choir; no musical background or experience necessary!
We meet for rehearsal on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month. Throughout the year, we visit local assisted livings and nursing homes in the Knox County area to sing for the residents.
mission trips
Our senior adults go on 3 or 4 mission trips each year. Our seniors enjoy going to children’s Christian camps to help maintain their facilities. They are primarily construction trips, requiring participants who can manage light construction, cooking, landscaping and/or cleaning.
WIDOW/WIDOWERS MINISTRY
We host several widow/widower events each year to serve as a time of fellowship with those who may be going through some of the same things as you. We want to treat you graciously (the meaning of “remember the widow/widower”) as found in the book of James.
Nursing Home & Shut-in Visitation
Our seniors are very active in visiting our members who are shut-in as well as those in nursing homes to encourage and uplift them.
Facilities Access
We realize that as we grow older, it can be a little harder to get around, and we know with a church our size that some people worry they will not be able to navigate our building very well. We have tried to make it as convenient as possible for our senior members and visitors. We offer parking close to the Worship Center and the Senior Adult Sunday School classes are also conveniently located.
