We believe that all life is inherently valuable.

It is difficult to comprehend how a statement like this has become so controversial. We exist in a culture in which the idea of “truth” is incredibly subjective and constantly questioned. As 2 Timothy 3:7 describes it, “always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.”

Though it is ever-diminishing in popularity, we cling tightly to the truth revealed in God’s Word. The value of life is revealed in verses like Genesis 1:27; “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them,” and Jeremiah 1:5; “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

The conversation surrounding abortion is ever-present, especially since the overturning of Roe vs. Wade, and we as the Church will not shy away from it. Join us Monday evening, September 26, from 6:30-8pm at First Baptist Powell as we open the conversation, reflecting and responding as God’s people. This event will be led by the Knox County Association of Baptists in partnership with the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board (TBMB), the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention (ERLC), Hope Resource Center, and Choices Resource Center.

There will be an informational portion, addressing many myths surrounding the topic of abortion, as well as a panel discussion led by leaders of the partner organizations, which you will have the opportunity to ask questions at.

Schedule

“Roe v. Wade and The Dobbs Decision” – Elizabeth Graham, Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission

“Misconceptions Surrounding Abortion” – Andrew Wood, Hope Resource Center

“A Pastoral Response to this Cultural Moment” – Seth Hammond, Christ Covenant PCA

We hope to see you for the Night For Life, September 26th at 6:30pm!
